Engineers Day 2024:- The engineering community across India celebrates Engineer’s Day every year on September 15, in honor of the greatest Indian engineer, Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He was the most prominent civil engineer in India in the 20th century.

The year 2024 will mark the 56th anniversary of Engineers Day in India and the 162nd birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya. It will be celebrated on 15 September, Sunday.

Why are we celebrating Engineer’s Day?

Famous country engineer Mokshagundam Visheshwaraya celebrates his birthday today. To honor him, this day is celebrated throughout the country. In 1995, the country’s most prestigious award for Mokshagundam was awarded to Bharat Ratna. Mokshagundam is very involved in the successful dam, bridge, and drinking water program of many rivers in the country. As a result, the problem of water in the country has been solved.

Mokshagundam has made a name in many fields but has made a significant contribution to education and engineering. Mokshagundam was often preoccupied with issues such as illiteracy, poverty, and unemployment. During his term in Mysore, the number of schools increased from 4,500 to 10,500.

At the same time, he opened several agricultural, technical and industrial colleges so that the young people of the country could receive a good education. In honor of Mokshagundam, a college was named after him in Karnataka. After that, two technical institutes of the same name were opened in Bangalore. In honor of this great engineer, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum was established in Bangalore.

In 1885, Mokshagundam worked as an assistant engineer in Nashik, Khandesh, and Poona. He then took on the duties of Chief Engineer in many parts of the country and retired in 1909 from the British service. After he took over the duties of secretary and chief engineer of the Mysore government. In 1913 he became Deewan of Mysore.

In 1927-1955 he was appointed to the board of Tata Steel. People know Mokshagundam for the design and planning of the Jayanagar area south of Bengaluru. Jayanagar, which was designed entirely by Mokshagundam, is one of the best-planned developments in Asia.

In different cities, an engineer’s day is celebrated in different ways. Different departments of Engineering have different styles to celebrate. Celebration methods may also vary from one company to another. While government corporations follow the annual theme of Engineering Day, private companies can follow the theme or determine their own theme.

Engineers play a major role in the growth of a company. The way they celebrate this birthday does not matter. It is therefore important that they wait for the annual event to stay motivated and continue their excellent work for the general public.

Personal, family, career, a life of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya

Some people are born great. But the real great are those who achieve great things by working hard, having creative positive thinking or serving the nation.

Ayurvedic doctor Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was born in Muddenhalli in Mysore to an ordinary family. He was born on September 15, 1861, and having lost his father at the age of fourteen, became more and more power to become the sixth Bharat Ratna in 1955.

The bright young boy graduated from Central College in Bangalore, where he stayed at his uncle’s house, but covered his tuition. He was so smart that the director asked him to teach mathematics to students. With all this work, 15 kilometres per day on foot, Visvesvaraya won the prize during her final exam, which earned her a scholarship from the Mysore State Government for the Pune Science College.

As a civil engineer, Visvesvaraya has achieved some difficult projects. The British government appointed him Kaiser-e- Hind after he undertook two well-known projects to provide drinking water to Sukkur (Sindh) and Aden (South Yemen).

His idea was to “train to rust”. Mr. Aney pays tribute to the great soul – the duty of comfort is the ideal of Visvesvaraya. His quest for knowledge, his great patriotism, his attitude to work, his love of the poor, and his health secret will forever inspire future generations.
