Roles of System Analyst

Roles of System Analyst:- A systems analyst is a person who uses analysis and design techniques to solve business problems using information technology. Systems analysts may serve as change agents who identify the organizational improvements needed, design systems to implement those changes, and train and motivate others to use the systems.

The success of system projects depends upon the system analyst because he/she is the person who plans & guides the design as well as implements the modified or new system.



System analyst plays the following roles:-

 

Problem Definition

The first & most difficult task of a systems analyst is to understand the organization’s requirements. He/she studies the problems & needs of an organization. The analyst works as an investigator by extracting real problem from existing systems.

 

Setting priorities among requirements

System analyst set the priorities among requirements based on the urgency & importance of the user’s need.



 

Gathering data of facts

System analyst acts as a researcher because he gathers facts, figures & documents to understand the entire scope of the problem.

 

Analysing & Evaluation

After gathering data & facts, the analyst analyses them. Since many problems have a number of solutions, the system analyst must evaluate the merit of such a proposed solution before recommending one to the management.


 

Problem Solver

The analyst is called problem solver because he analyses & solves problems

 

Drawing Specifications

A system analyst is also referred to as a planner. A key part of his job is to develop a plan to meet the management objectives.

 

Designing System

System Analyst is also called Architect because he/she design & implement new systems.
